Michael Henry is a Jamaican politician. He has been the Minister of Transport and Works in Jamaica since 2007 and submitted his resignation as Minister of Transport and works on 29 November 2011. This resignation was tendered because of the controversy over the Jamaican Infrastructural Development Program (JDIP) of which he was overseeing. Michael Henry was born in Spanish Town St. Catherine and is the son of the late Lester Osmond Henry and Lucille Leon Henry. He is an author/publisher by profession and is Chairman of Kingston Publishers Ltd. He is currently the member of parliament for Central Clarendon and has been the member of parliament for that constituency since 1980, making him one of the longest-serving members of parliament. Education: St. Catherine Elementary School, Beckford & Smith and Ealing Technical College (U.K.) He is married with four children. Civic Career: Kiwanis Club, Jamaica Library Service Board, Board of the Institute of Jamaica, Kingston Cricket Club and the Jamaica Motoring Club.
